What is Polyurethane PUR Hot Melt?
Intercol's Polyurethane Reactive (PUR) hot melt combine the positive attributes of a fast setting hot melt adhesive, with a durable cured pu-bond, Intercol does offer unique adhesives and technical advise to our applications. PUR hot melt curing is activated by moisture, which can be found in the surrounding, such as air, or substrates like wood or paper.
Practically, the moisture in the air between the application and combining of the substrates will be sufficiƫn for the total activation of the curing process. That's why PU-hot melt is not available in glue sticks. It will be packed in nitrogen protected sealed tubes or drums. PUR hot melt solidifies by cooling down, and cures with moisture in the air forming a strong superior bond that will not re-melt after curing. Polyurethane hot melt adhesives may have high and low application temperatures. Low emission PUR adhesives often have low application temperatures of the hot melt adhesive.
PUR hotmelts are ideal for a wide variety of applications. Hotmelt PU is often used in woodworking, automotive, filter assembly, building industry, panel constructions, and many other applications. When you require a super strong bond with a very fast set time of e.g. 1 second. PU will not remelt, that may be very good for your end product, but maybe not for your application equipment. Be carefull with sealing your adhesive equipment after short (longer than 30 minutes) and long machine stops.
