Intercol is a manufacturer of PVAc based adhesives and coatings. Especially customer specific, special developed products can be made at Intercol’s production and R&D services.
Polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) is a synthetic polymer obtained by the polymerization of vinyl acetate. It is mostly available in an aqueous emulsion. The main application of these PVAc emulsions is are found in adhesives, such as wood glue and binders or coatings for porous materials such as cardboard, paper, fabrics, food-stuff, etc.
PVAc is also known as “white glue”. PVAc is often a raw material for special adhesives that can be blend with adhesion promoters, tackifiers and wetting agents. It is also possible to blend PVAc with:
- Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH or PVA)
- Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA)
- Ethylene-Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH)
Environment
PVAc is slowly degraded via hydrolysis or saponification by bases.
