Water based adhesives can be waterproof and watersoluble. An example of a waterproofd adhesive is a D3 class water resistant white wood glue adhesive. The water resistance will be effective after full drying, which can take multiple days, depending on circumstances.
Non dried adhesive can mostly be cleaned with water, or hot water.
Water soluble and remoistable adhesives
Waterbased PVAC and PVOH adhesives also exists as water soluble, or remoistable.
